I was introduced to ceramics for the first time in 2012 as an elective for my bachelors degree at UWM. The moment my hands touched the clay, I was hooked! I loved the idea of working with materials and energy that came from the earth and transform them into something new and beautiful. My work in school took a sculptural approach dealing with issues of mankind’s relationship with the natural world and how we coexist with one another in the physical and spiritual world.
Currently my work has taken on a more functional aspect but still dealing with the simplicity and beauty that the natural world offers. I enjoy carving and using sgraffito and mishima techniques on the surface of my pieces to add a graphic aesthetic while providing a customer with a one-of-a-kind artistic piece.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014 at the Peck School of the Arts in Milwaukee, WI and have exhibited work locally, including Art in Bloom in 2016 at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
