Cathee Boeder and husband, Mark Cook are the creators at PotteryCat. The Potters Shop in Waukesha is where their interest in ceramics really took off. They enjoy the fantastic teachers and camaraderie found at TPS and feel like it’s an extension of their home.
In addition to an MBA, Cathee’s undergraduate degree is in Fine Art, specifically drawing and painting. She dabbled in pottery during high school and college but it was only after completing a class at The Potter’s Shop in Waukesha, WI when she really put her heart into Clay. Mark has an associate’s degree in Food Technology and is a Doctor of Optometry, currently practicing in Lake Country, WI. He is the former Brewmaster of Bent Kettle Brewing and was introduced to pottery as a new creative outlet by his wife. Mark especially enjoys throwing and creating functional pieces of art.
Mark and Cathee have quickly developed a passion for pottery and a seemingly endless flow of ideas. Cathee’s line of “critters” and fish marry her illustration skills with her quirky personality and humor. She is inspired by all living creatures but finds her muse in cats. Mark is inspired by nature and likes to experiment with colors. Mostly, they like to find glazes that make you “OOOH and AHHH”…items you find pleasing to hold and look at!
Soon to be featured at Burlap and Lace, Brown Street Emporium as regular vendors and a show at the Whitewater Arts Alliance from 7/27 through 8/23.
