Handmade Pottery Mugs
No matter what beverage you are drinking it will taste better with a handmade pottery mug. My ceramic mugs are made on the pottery wheel with extra attention to detail and design. They start out as a small ball of clay, then attached to the pottery wheel and formed into cylinder. After a day of drying a handle is formed and attached. The texture is also carved during this time. Once completely dried the mugs are placed in a kiln to be bisque fired to 1900 degrees. After they are cooled a liquid glaze is applied and the mugs are fired in the kiln again to 2165 degrees.
Each handmade mug is approximately 3.5″ diameter x 4.5″ tall and holds about 12 ounces of liquid. This colorful piece will stand out among its imported counterparts, creating a peaceful atmosphere while you enjoy your brew. The bottom of the mug is raw unglazed dark clay.
Each mug is individually made locally in our studio in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The pieces are made of stoneware clay, thrown on the potter’s wheel and fired in a kiln to temperatures up to 2200 degrees. Because of the uniqueness of each piece, the size, shape and color may be slightly different than the picture shown.
