It has come time for you to move onto the next level in your quest to conquer the potter’s wheel. You have learned to center a couple pounds of clay and pull your walls up evenly. In our intermediate pottery wheel class you will refine your throwing skills and work on more sophisticated projects. Pottery students will learn techniques to throw bigger and taller pots. They will also construct teapots, pitchers, nesting bowls and platters.
Previous wheel throwing experience is required in either a beginners class or studio hours.
Classes will consist of 5 consecutive pottery wheel sessions.
The first 4 sessions will be actual instruction and working on the potter’s wheel. The final sixth week will be glazing your pieces.
Class fee includes unlimited use of clay during class time and the ability to keep 10 finished pieces. ($5 each additional piece)
Five week adult classes range in size from 4 -10 people. Class may be canceled last minute due to low enrollment. Payment is required at the time of sign-up to secure a spot in the class.
You will be working with “real” stoneware clays and glazes. It is the same materials we use in the production of our high-fired stoneware. Everything you make will be food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
We know practicing helps so each class includes lab time:
Starting with the second class, students can arrive 30 minutes early to warm up prior to the start of the class. Class fee covers all tools and clay during class and 30 minutes practice time before class.
Add a studio membership upgrade option for only $35. Studio membership upgrade allows students to access the studio during normal business hours for additional practice throughout the 5 week class.
