Have you always wanted to learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel? Beginning students will learn how to center a ball of clay and shape it into various objects. Students with previous experience will learn techniques to make more complicated forms and hone in their skills. This class is a great opportunity for students of all levels to explore clay on the potter’s wheel in a fun and creative atmosphere.
Classes will consist of 6 consecutive sessions.
The first 5 sessions will be actual instruction and working on the potter’s wheel.
The 6 week program is as follows:
Class 1: Basic foundations covered, focusing on centering and cylinders.
Class 2: Recap class 1, then move onto bowls with basic shaping.
Class 3: Recap of bowls then move onto plates.
Class 4: Cover shaping of cylinders into various forms such as vases, pitchers, etc… We also cover lids.
Class 5: Last wheel session where we will work on your own idea/project.
Class 6: Final session – students will glaze their own work.
Class fee includes unlimited use of clay during class time and the ability to keep 10 finished pieces. ($5 each additional piece)
You will be working with “real” stoneware clays and glazes. It is the same materials we use in the production of our high-fired stoneware. Everything you make will be food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe.
Six week adult classes range in size from 4 -10 people. Class may be canceled last minute due to low enrollment. Payment is required at the time of sign-up to secure a spot in the class.
Please wear appropriate clothing for getting clay on, trim your fingernails, tie back long hair and remove any hand accessories.
Finished pottery pieces not picked up in 90 days will be discarded.

Starting with the second class, students can arrive 30 minutes early to warm up prior to the start of the class. Class fee covers all tools and clay during class and 30 minutes practice time before class.
Add a studio membership upgrade option for only $35. Studio membership upgrade allows students to access the studio during normal business hours for additional practice throughout the 6 week class.
